Are you still using free hosting such as Blogspot or Wordpress? Well, it’s the time to make a change now should you intend to become an amateur or a professional blogger. I know you want to ask why.
However do bear in mind that most of us are not full time blogger as we do have our own full time job in hand. So, if we can make 10% of what John Chow did in a month, it is considered a great success, don’t you think so? :p
Before embarking into your money making voyage, you MUST get yourself a domain name and a web hosting first. It is so because Advertisers normally and usually do not like to spend their monies in advertising at free hosting blogs. FYI again, John Chow made a whooping $16,380.00 and $2,036.22 for private Ad sales and Text Link Ads respectively out of the total blog income for May 08. You also get less opportunity to be selected by Advertisers in any paid review bid campaign as they usually give preference to non-free hosting blogs. You also subject to a bunch of terms and conditions to be adherely followed should you are using free hosting blog. What I have illustrated here are few of many disadvantages in using a free hosting.
TRUST ME, you won't regret doing this. I urge you to take a serious look at some of the prominent web hosting companies HERE or HERE and make a change as soon as you can. Be a serious blogger today!

Keep in mind that one of the main reason you should get your own domain and hosting, is because there's a chance that your account can get banned for no reason and you'll lose all of your hard work on an instant.
Not to mention it looks cheap if you are using the free blogging service :)
Definitely its time to make a change.
I would second JZ on this. One more motivational reason for you all to grab your domain & hosting immediately. Get it before some one else dose :)
You definitely need your own domain name (but don't look at me). It gives you a lot more of credibility.
Well, only if that blogger made my domain function good, it would have been better for me. Now i felt like having thrown $10 and little it may be, i still feel bad. Indeed very few bloggers are earning reasonably and if they live in country where dollars/euro or sterling pounds are being used, its not so worth it unless they earn like John Chow!
There's nothing better than getting your own domain name. It's only a few bucks but it is a giant step towards really becoming serious about your blogging.
Actually I JUST bought A Domain today and set it up http://www.crunchnow.com is the new one I hope ya like it.
Well commented folks. For those who are still using free hosting, do consider of discarding it. It's not too late to do so :)
Using domain is not as easy as blog, besides nowadays many people trusted blog more than websites, however if your blog have been a popular one which mean you are a pro in internet business, buying a domain will be a great preference
I've planned to switch to wordpress on my own hosting account with a domain name. Why am I waiting? I'm not sure. I do have some readers now, and I guess I don't want to alienate them and mess up the work I've done so far. How do I make the switch without alienating my existing readers?
Jennifer, you can try asking your new hosting website to direct your readers to your new website whenever they look up to your old one.
Great article. thanks 4 that
It is a HUGE mistake for anyone serious about taking the blog to the next level to go for the FREE route.
It diminishes the blogs value dramatically and puts you in the mercy of the free blog provider.
